    Spring Turkey Season

Spring Turkey season is opening this week in several states and those of us that love hunting the "thunder chickens" get almost excited about hunting them than we do deer. The early morning gobbles from the tom turkeys as the hoot owls sing a caucaphony of hoots and love calls gives you that feeling of being alive that no one can describe unless they live it. Even the traveling whipporwill is a night time visitor that heralds this wonderful time of year.

After all the rattlesnake hunting on my place this year, I won't be venturing into the dark without my snake boots. Snakes have never bothered me, but after catching one that was just 4 and 1/2 inches shy of the world record, they come to mind a little more often than they used to!! We are going to get a video up of Doug doing battle with this monster.

Turkey hunting is an exciting hunt when everything goes right. Tom Turkeys gobbling and coming to the call makes the heart race and the dark plumage of a mature tom glistens like bronze in the morning sun. I will share a new turkey hunting story with you later on this week in Falcon's Roost. You guys that turkey hunt keep us updated as to your success. We love to hear from ya!!!

Turkey hunting is awesome. I wish we had some on our lease. Calling one in is for sure a natural high. Blood pumping, heart racing and adrenalin filled moment. Seeing a turkey come in in full strut is a sight to behold. Hope to do it again soon

Got the 10 gauge out of the safe. My grandpa is 86 in a couple months and he wants to hunt a couple days here at the end of season. We are headed to the woods soon!! He told me the other day he is losing his stamina. He RAN from the barn to the house a few days ago cause he thought he had heard my grandmother calling for him. She was, but no emergency. It is about 100 yards from where he started to where he stopped and he RAN. He said "I used to do that all the time and it kinda winded me!" I am looking forward to this hunt.

We hunted two days and didn't get a turkey, but we had a great time. The turkey hunt wasn't really about killing a turkey that much this year!
