    Shot placement

    I've shot em comin & goin...in the ass in rapid retrograde, whatever it takes to bring them down. I'd be interested to hear what you'd say is your ideal shot placement.

    gut shot anything kind of freaks me out. I would be concerned about contaminated meat. I guess I would try for a rib/lung shot if I wanted the skull/head and if I wanted "BBQ" I would go for the head.

    My experience...

    .45-70 shoulder/neck works well - drt
    5.56 head works well - drt
    5.56 shoulder - tracking needed...the only one I have lost so far, hid well in the briars, remains found a few days later thanks to the coyotes.

    If I am using my 5.56 I like the #2 spot. If I have my 458 Socom any angle will work. If its a meat hog I will take the #2 shot.
